This year we hope to make GeoCoinfest an event to remember. Located in Syracuse New York, at the crossroads of two major interstate highways, we are in the center of the state. From here a two hour drive can put you in Canada to the north, Pennsylvania to the south, Niagara Falls to the west and Massachusetts to the east. Five hours will get you to New York City, but if you are flying in Syracuse has an International airport as well.
New York also boasts two well known geocaches that should be on everyone's to do list. The first is the Spot, GC 39. This is the fourth oldest existing cache in the US, the only May 2000 cache on the Eastern coast of the US, and the oldest cache in NY. A must have for anyone traveling from afar. Fortunately for those wanting to visit this cache there will be an event for it on the Sunday following the main event. The other must have cache is the Eternal Flame Falls Earth Cache, GC10VMY. A natural flame burning in the center of a waterfall that you can actually walk up to. Even non cachers travel from afar to see this spectacular site.
